Today, in our final blog in the series, we are pleased to share more details about one of Alpfilm's most impactful initiatives: the Alpfilm Cycle Project. This is an innovative action that reinforces our social, environmental and governance (ESG) responsibility along with a commitment to opening new paths to support recycling.
The Alpfilm Cycle Project arises from our vision that each material used can play a fundamental role in the production of new items, thus contributing to a healthier and more sustainable world.
It all starts with the production of Alpfilm stretch plastic film, recognized for its resistance, elasticity and the important fact that it is 100% recyclable. From this point on, the Alpfilm Cycle Project comes into play, a process that redefines the life cycle of this material.
In partnership with Cooperativa Viva Bem, we established a reverse logistics system to collect plastic film used in restaurants. This plastic, after consumption, goes through a meticulous process of separation, cleaning and crushing, using cutting-edge technology to improve its quality.
The result of this process are small filaments ready to be used in the production of a variety of plastic-based items. It is exciting to see how Alpfilm's post-consumer plastic is gaining a new life in different sectors, such as filaments for fashion, artisanal products, film to be used in the production of sustainable gifts, such as reusable bags, toiletry bags and others.
