3 New Year's Eve recipes to rock dessert

That time of year has come when you unpack the ornaments to set up the Christmas tree and put blinkers on the windows of your home. Many people also take advantage of the holidays to travel and to miss their loved ones. Preparations to celebrate with family and friends are already in full swing and, at that time, the fun exchange of gifts and the traditional supper, of course! To help you make this moment even more special, we’ve chosen some year-end recipes that will make your dessert menu more practical and tasty.

# 1 - Gingerbread Cookie

If you want a recipe to please children, these cookies are ideal! After all, the famous gingerbreads they are part of the imagination of all the little ones who have watched a Christmas movie. And they are so beautiful, they can be used in the decoration of the house.

For the dough, you will need the following ingredients:

  • butter (100g)
  • condensed milk (1 can)
  • eggs (6 units)
  • wheat flour (6 cups)
  • baking powder (2 teaspoons)
  • powdered cinnamon (1 tablespoon)
  • grated ginger (1 tablespoon)
  • powdered cloves (1 teaspoon)
  • nutmeg powder (1 teaspoon)

The method of preparation is very simple. First, add the butter with the condensed milk and the eggs. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Wrap the dough in a plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

The next step is to open the dough and cut the cookie into the desired shape (we recommend stars, Christmas trees, bells and dolls, like the ones in the image above). Then just transfer the dough to a greased pan and bake for about 15 minutes in a medium preheated oven. Get ready to smell the whole house!

And to decorate the cookies and make them even more playful, you can throw a little colorful sprinkles before taking the dough into the oven or, for the more skilled, decorate with icing after the cookie is already cold.

Finally, just enjoy it with the kids for breakfast or as dessert at supper. And you can be sure that these cookies will bring you the magic of Christmas!

# 2 - Chocolate salami

This is one of those year-end recipes for you to make a different dessert, but without giving up the practicality! Here are the ingredients that are needed:

  • condensed milk (1 can)
  • butter (4 tablespoons)
  • powdered chocolate (½ cup)
  • cornstarch biscuit (300g)

To start the preparation, mix condensed milk, butter and powdered chocolate in a pan over medium heat - as if you were making a brigadeiro - and continue mixing until it boils and thickens.

When the mixture is already warm, add the broken cookies. After cooling, place the dough on a piece of plastic film sprinkled with chocolate powder, rolling in the shape of a cylinder. Then close the plastic tips tightly and cool until hard (about 1 hour).

Then just remove the plastic, cut into slices and sprinkle some more chocolate powder. Ready! You will have a dessert with a very interesting look and it will be a great success among your friends and your family!

# 3 - Strawberry Pie

If you don't know the taste of the guests so well, this recipe is for you. This pie is always very successful and still combines with the Christmas or New Year decoration. The ingredients for the dough are:

  • wheat flour (200g)
  • salt (just a pinch)
  • sugar (1 tablespoon)
  • butter (100g)
  • ice water (4 tablespoons)

To prepare the dough, mix flour, sugar, salt and butter, leaving it with a thick crumbly consistency. Then add water until the dough becomes homogeneous and let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes (so as not to dry out, wrap the dough in plastic wrap).

Open the dough and place it in a false bottom pan, baking for about 30 minutes over medium heat (or until golden brown). And here's a golden tip: cover the edges of the shape with plastic wrap. Thus, you will be able to unmold the pie more easily.

And for the filling, you will need:

  • milk (2 ½ cups)
  • vanilla extract (2 teaspoons)
  • eggs (6 units)
  • sugar (⅔ cup)
  • wheat flour (4 tablespoons)
  • chopped strawberries

Start making the filling by heating the milk until it boils. Meanwhile, separate the egg yolks and calmly mix the sugar and flour. Then add the hot milk little by little and then put everything on the fire until it thickens (at this point, it is important not to stop stirring the cream). Add the vanilla and finally add the strawberries and let it cool.

If you want a special decoration, cover the surface of the pie with more strawberries or, if you're excited, you can make a strawberry topping to complement the recipe. You can trust: it will be delicious!
