Coronavirus: learn how to intensify care during shopping

With the pandemic, we started to rethink some habits that put our health and the people who live with us at risk. So hand hygiene often needs to become part of our routine. In addition, to prevent infection by the coronavirus, the possibility of leaving the home should be considered only when it is really necessary. And when the destination is the market, grocery store or neighborhood vendor, an important measure is to take some care when shopping

Following the recommendations of social distancing from the World Health Organization (WHO), in some cities, trade is still restricted to essential activities. Meanwhile, other establishments are working with the delivery and sales service over the internet. However, a common question among people is how to avoid contamination when going to the market and when receiving home deliveries. Thinking about it, we have put together some tips that will help you in this moment!

The main care when shopping in the market

Before you leave the house, making a list of items that are missing from the pantry can help reduce the time you spend on the market. In addition, protecting yourself with a mask and gel alcohol is a necessary care, both with you and with others.

Prefer less busy times and try to keep a distance of at least 1,5 meters in relation to other consumers when you are in the checkout line. And at the time of payment, whenever possible, choose a card. This way, you avoid receiving change in cash, something that circulates in the hands of many people.

When shopping, keep in mind that avoiding touching your face before hand washing is a basic rule. After all, even without coming into direct contact with other people, touching contaminated surfaces can be enough to transmit the virus to your hands.

When you get home, take your shoes off at the entrance and then wash them or clean them with gel alcohol. Then wash your hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water and change your clothes. Before store shopping, plastic bags should be discarded. The product's own packaging, on the other hand, can be washed, with soap and water, or replaced by Zip Lock bags

In the case of fruits and vegetables, wash them in running water and soak them in a bleach solution, with one spoon of the product for each liter of filtered water. Then, just rinse them well, again under running water.

O delivered can be the solution to your problems

With the restaurants closed, the home delivery system is the safest option for those who prefer not to prepare their own meals. But for that, some precautions need to be taken.

In food preparation - as long as the restaurant adopts hygiene measures - the risks of contamination are small. In this scenario, the biggest problem is in the delivery, both for the delivery man and for the customer. Therefore, whenever possible, opt for payment through the application and the delivery system without contact with the delivery person. Otherwise, paying with the card and keeping a safe distance is the best alternative.

Upon receiving the order, transfer the meal to a clean container and dispose of the original packaging in the trash. A tip to reduce the frequency of deliveries is to order all meals of the day at once. To preserve food, simply store it in pots with a lid, or sealed with plastic film, and take them to the refrigerator.

And when it comes to receiving deliveries by post?

A recent study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, concluded that coronavirus survives, on average, 72 hours on stainless steel and plastic; on cardboard, for 24 hours; and on copper, for 4 hours. So you made an online purchase and you don't know what to do when the order arrives? Calm down, you don't have to go into despair! To ensure security when receiving your purchases, just follow some recommendations.

First, try to keep a safe distance from the courier. If you need to receive it indoors, offer hand hygiene with gel alcohol and allow access. Then, just discard the product packaging in the trash to avoid contact with the material surface. Simple, isn't it?

To avoid contagion with the new coronavirus, we must take some care when shopping. But there is no need to despair. After all, following these simple steps, the chances of contamination by these means become very small. Do you want to receive more practical tips on how to protect yourself at this time?
